This is a teaching manual prepared in English and is an introduction to the translation profession, translation theory and practice for university students. The book consists of four chapters: the first chapter is devoted to the translation profession, the relationship between language and translation, the role of the translator and qualification requirements; the second chapter is devoted to working with the client, cooperation within the team, translator ethics and responsibilities; the third chapter covers the typology of translation types (translation of literary, scientific-technical, journalistic, official, religious texts); the fourth chapter explains in detail the types of simultaneous and consecutive translation (conference, court, medical, media translation, etc.). Discussion topics are proposed at the end of each chapter, which indicates that the manual is intended for use in the practical teaching process.
